The 25D series MOV Metal Oxide Varistor is a high-performance surge varistor designed to provide reliable metal oxide varistor surge protection in a variety of electronic applications. Composed primarily of zinc oxide, this high voltage varistor function as nonlinear ceramic resistance elements, offering exceptional sensitivity to voltage changes. When the applied voltage surpasses a specific threshold, the resistance of the mov metal oxide varistor rapidly decreases, allowing it to absorb excess energy and protect sensitive electronic components from damage.

The 25D series mov metal oxide varistor is available in two variants: the N(Standard) Series and the J(High Surge & High Energy) Series, both featuring a 25mm element diameter. They cover a wide voltage range from 18V to 1600V, with a maximum allowable voltage of up to 1000V (AC) and 1280V (DC). The capacitance of these varistors ranges from 450pF to 45,000pF at 1kHz, making them ideal for a broad spectrum of metal oxide varistor surge protection applications, including lightning protection and surge suppression in electronic voltage equipment.

By leveraging the superior nonlinear characteristics of MOV metal oxide varistor, the 25D series ensures robust protection against overvoltages, safeguarding the normal operation of electronic systems and preventing potential damage to various circuit components.

Surge Varistor Working Principle

When at rest, varistors have a high impedance (several megohm) relative to the protected electronic components and do not change the circuit characteristics of the original design
When a transient surge voltage occurs (exceeding the breakdown voltage of the varistor), the impedance of the varistor becomes low (only a few ohms) and causes a short circuit of the original line.
In other words, the electronic product or component is also protected.
